Get ready for Wicked Manors 3 - A Trip Down the Rabbit Hole! This year's Halloween Block Party in Wilton Manors will be held on October 31, 2009 from 6 PM to Midnight...with the bars open till 3 AM!

Each year this party gets bigger and bigger and you have GOT to make it out. Plan a trip and spend the weekend. There are plenty of guest houses and hotels around Ft. Lauderdale and a few in Wilton itself. There are more shops and restaurants on The Drive than last year too.

The party has booths, entertainment, contests and lots more. It's really the southeast's hottest Halloween Party. I can't wait! You don't have to dress up either. Go as you are!

Start Planning for Wilton Manors Halloween 2009!!

Can you believe that Halloween is only 2 1/2 months away?!? Wow. I haven't heard of the 'theme'...but you can bet it's going to be wild. The street party and parade was so much fun last year. With Halloween being on a Saturday this year...you can bet it's going to be another great time.

Living Room VIP Club open soon in Ft. Lauderdale

Living Room has been hyped for months now. They began the hype around Gay Pride in June and things finally seem to be approaching a climax. It is located at the Las Olas Riverfront Complex and hopefully it will live up to the hype and the $3 Million price tag. It's not a 'total' gay nightclub, but it is owned and operated by the Gays. Friday will be the 'designated' gay nite, but all nites are 'gay friendly'.

The Living Room is decribed as featuring "3 rooms all designed for your visual pleasure. As you enter the club there is an approximately 8' by 10' door with Angelina Jolie on it and she greets you, winks at you and blows kisses. The Opal Room will be a base white color, but the entire room is modulated by a LED mood space that responds to physical temperatures and body reactions. The second is the Meditation Room which is a living loft on the water with a very industrial, simple, clean feel. The third room is called “The Gate” which is their hardcore dance room powered by Dynacore (also at Space in Miami). The walls and ceilings are all made from grass and the bar-tops are liquid and respond to temperature. Inverness (meaning heaven) is the outside area and is Chic, contemporary, sophisticated, minimalist, with beds (ala Nikki Beach). The theme for the outside was based on fire and water."

Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild - now showing!

We've heard the buzz around South Florida for months now and the weekend is finally here! The sequel to 'Another Gay Movie' opened Friday at the Gateway on Sunrise Blvd and should be in wide release all over the US. I'm hearing it's quite funny and of course we love the fact it was shot here in Ft. Lauderdale! There have been some changes to the cast from the original...I'm guessing due to schedule changes. Don't wait for the DVD...go see this in the theater...otherwise you don't get the 'full impact' of the scenes that make people squirm in their seats! :)

Another Gay Sequel - Gays Gone Wild...released soon.

Another Gay Sequel - Gays Gone Wild shot most of the movie right here in Ft. Lauder dale!! It's funny...the news didn't cover it at all a few months ago. Hmmmm. Well I don't know how I missed it..but here is a clip Perez Hilton shot and posted on YouTube months ago. It's a short 'behind-the-scenes'. RuPaul and some of the cast are on camera.

Ohh...the movie comes out VERY soon and as soon as I see a preview...I'll post it and let everyone know when it cums out.

Pride Under the Sun in Ft. Lauderdale April 12 &13

Ft. Lauderdale's gay community is so proud that it has 2 Pride Events! The summer event in June is called the Stonewall Festival and is held in Wilton Manors...that one is a few months away yet.

Pride Under the Sun (Pridefest) is April 12& 13th! It's billed as the largest Florida Pride Festival and pulls in visitors from all over. Of course they centered the timing around 'spring break' as well. The weather is perfect now...so all you guys from the cold climates need to get down here and have some fun.

The festival is held at Holiday Park on US1 and is held over both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $8 ($5 for students...mmm chicken). Vendor booths, live entertainment (yup...drag shows too), DJ and dancing along with tons of food make for a fun time.

Boardwalk to open new Patio Dining-Restaurant

Boardwalk is expanding. Opening Thursday, February 14th, 2007 is the new 100 seat patio dining area. It's called The Birdcage and I've heard they will be serving up some hot dishes. :) It should be a great addition to the complex. Grab dinner at The Birdcage, then go inside to see the strippers! Hot male strippers....they are always getting the hottest porn stars.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Complex - Hollywood, FL

While the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Complex isn't the gayest spot in South Florida...it's one of the hottest. It's been open for about 3 years and has become one of the hippest places to hang out. You'll find some hotties walking around and some of them are total Mo's.

The casino itself sports a poker pit...and over 2,100 class II slot machines. The slots actually look just like the slots you find on the Vegas Strip...with one difference. You don't play against the 'house'. You actually play other gamblers at other machines. There is a bingo type game tied to the machine. Once you spin...the balls are randomly chosen and if you see a bingo on your card on that one pull...you will win something. I personally don't like these types of machines...they don't pay out that well. But all the other things at the facility make up for it.

The hotel consists of 500 rooms and a 4-acre tropical lagoon pool. It's quite the spread. Inside the casino you will find a Hard Rock Cafe, a Hard Rock Gift Shop, a Spa and 3 other restaurants.

Attached to the hotel is Seminole Paradise. 25 specialty shops (some chains as well as indie), 10 Entertainment Venues (Improv Comedy Club, nightclubs, bars, Hard Rock Live concert hall and lots more)....You'll also find 11 restaurants in this complex.

This place gets PACKED on weekend nights. The casino is open 24/7 and the clubs stay open very very late. It actually feels like the Seminoles picked up a property in Las Vegas and plopped it down here in South Florida. The only thing missing is a high end movie theater....or one of those new cool bowling alleys (they are hot in Vegas now).

Shoppes of Wilton Manors Sold

With change usually comes uncertainty. But with the recent sale of the popular Strip Mall in Wilton Manors...the tenants are actually feeling a bit comfortable.

The Shoppes house some of South Florida's most popular gay business...such as Georgi's Alibi, Boom Nighclub, Java Boys, Humpy's Pizza along with some great retail shops. According to the new owners Rivercrest Realty Investors..there are no 'immediate' plans for change. Rather than plan a huge renovation of the property, they are trying to cater to the tenants maintenance needs. They also recently renewed every ones leases...so that is a good sign the Shoppes will be around for a while.

The previous owners (Stiles Corp) had plans of turning 1/2 of the complex into a mixed use retail and condo building. Those never really got off the ground and with the condo market soft (I hate soft)...there probably won't new condo's in the plans with the new owners.

One interesting report is that the Poverello Thrift Store plans on moving to a larger location in the next year and that will open a large slot for a new store. Rivercrest plans on keeping the same overall 'appeal' of the mall and hopes to find a local business that will complement the stores.

If you haven't been to the Shoppes yet, I suggest you take a trip and check them out.

New Club in Ft. Lauderdale Opens December 1

Yesterday was the grand opening of the new club Purgatory in Ft. Lauderdale. The club is located in the old 'Saint' and 'Stud' location at:

The Saint and Stud used to be really popular...so it should be interesting to see if this club can bring back the excitement. The website still seems to be under construction...but hopefully they will have it fully functional soon.

More Filming for Another Gay Movie Sequel in Ft. Lauderdale.

It seems that there are some rumors floating around that the owner of the Schubert Resort in Ft. Lauderdale has signed an agreement to allow some filming of "Another Gay Movie: Guys Gone Wild" between December 1, 2007 and January 31, 2008. Might be fun if you are in the area to drive/walk by...you might get in some of the action!

The resort is located in the Victoria Park neighborhood and is close to the fabulous Il Mulino Restaurant and the Gateway Movie Theater. Here is the address:

"Another Gay Sequel: Guys Gone Wild" to Film in South Florida.

Those of you that remember the hilarious "Another Gay Movie" that was out a few years ago, might already know that a sequel is in the works. "Another Gay Sequel: Guys Gone Wild" is set to start production and filming this month in South Florida! They just wrapped up open casting calls for some main characters, but I've seen some signs for 'extras' all over town. The sequel follows the group to Ft. Lauderdale. I can't wait to see what they use for the 'location shots'.

If you are in SoFla for the White Party (or any other party for that matter)...keep your eyes open for the posters and film crew. That would be prime time to catch some of the hottest guys in the world. That would be Thanksgiving week. The posters say "must look good in a swimsuit". I'd like to be an extra for the extras!

So Where are the Gay Beaches in South Florida?

Good question! There are actually quite a few. I'll give a short rundown of each and I'll explore them more in depth one by one in later posts. While most SoFla beaches embrace their gay visitors...the ones listed here are the most gay friendly.

Ft. Lauderdale Area-

*Ft. Lauderdale Beach: The most popular 'gay beach' section is found at the A1A / Sebastian intersection. There are a few gay guest houses in the area and a lot of the restaurants are gay friendly. It's right around the 'Beach Place' Entertainment Complex. You really can't miss it. If you are walking down the strip, you will see the crowd change to almost all men. On the weekends you may want to get there early to get a good spot. Don't forget to visit the nearby city of Wilton Manors in the evenings for a drink or a bite to eat. (one of the highest gay populations per capita in the US.)

Dania Beach: Not the most gay beach around...but Dania has a huge antique store district. Catch some sun then go to US1 for some antiquing.

Miami/Dade County-

*Haulover 'Clothing Optional' Beach: This beach has quite the reputation of being one of the hottest 'nude' beaches in the US. Maybe that is because it's so close to Miami. The clothing optional section of the beach is on the North side of the park. The gay nude section even has a volleyball court! That could either be really hot to watch...or very painful...

South Beach: I'm sure you've heard about this place. It's located at the southern tip of Miami Beach and is super trendy. It's gotten really crowded over the years and very expensive. But it is still home to the hottest men around. There is still a big gay presence here, but the number is dwindling due to the high cost and well lets face it...us gays like to find the next best place! It's a great spot and comparable to a NYC neighborhood if it were on a beach. The popular gay 'stretch' of beach is located at 12th Street.

Key West-

Smather's Beach: Not the best sandy beach around the keys...well the Keys are made up of small islands made out of coral, so believe it or not...you don't see that many beaches there. It's actually a man=made beach and is very calm. Lets face it. If you're going to Key West, chances are you are there for the party scene.

Steve Cruz to Appear at the White Hot Leather Ball.

Porn hottie Steve Cruz will be appearing at this years White Hot Leather Ball (a White Party Event). This year the event will be held at Jackhammer Club in Ft. Lauderdale on Wed. November 21st. He's also planed to make an appearance at the actual White Party.

Jackhammer should be a good time for those in town. Get your tickets early...the link for White Party event schedules and tickets is in an earlier posting below. You can always get your tickets at the door...however, Ft. Lauderdale has a huge leather scene and this event will be packed for sure.
