1 Adult Sex Club, 2 Adult Sex Clubs, 3 Adult Sex Clubs, 4...

How many 'adult' members only clubs are enough for a region? Well, when you're talking about South Florida...maybe the answer is at least 5 or 6! Miami-Dade has 1, Broward now has 4. I'm talking gay only...men only clubs (the best kind!).

South Florida is one horny place. Given the recent rants from the Ft. Lauderdale Mayor, you'd think that sex is going on in the streets and in all restrooms. That isn't true at all. With today's websites and all the sex clubs , nobody really 'cruises' anymore. If they do, they are probably Republican...and probably 'straight'. There are more then enough gay bars to meet gays and lots plenty of 'members only' clubs to keep the sex private.

If the 'adult club' is your scene, Ft. Lauderdale is the spot for you. There are 4 different types to choose from. 3 offer gym equipment and are more of the 'grab and wear a towel' variety. The newest club doesn't have any gym equipment to get in the way. Just a maze of rooms, a catwalk that allows guys to walk from one onlooker to the next (catwalk is slightly elevated so onlookers can...um, you get the point). Private rooms and public rooms allow for endless fun. It's more of a club feel...a club with lots of sex and voyeurs.

Now remember to always play safe at these places. Use common sense and protect yourself.

Wite Party is Here in 3 Weeks! How Time Flies!

The 23rd Annual White Party week kicks off November 21 and lasts until November 26. Most of the events are held in Miami/South Beach with a few events in Ft. Lauderdale. White Party used to be only for those into the 'circuit party' scene...you know, shaved muscle gods dancing all nite with eyes bugging out of their heads (not that I don't like partying with them) ... but you can find all kinds of people attending the events. They also have different types of events that will certainly draw a diverse crowd.

Cyndi Lauper will be the big performer at this year's Villa Vizcaya event on November 25 (Saturday). I've seen Cyndi live twice and she puts on a GREAT show. Once in NYC during gay pride and once at a Bookstore for a CD signing. I really like her and she does a lot for the gay community.

There are so many events I can't list them all...so you might want to check out their website:

I've been to a few of the events over the years and don't find myself enjoying the huge mega parties as much now. I guess it's like the 'been there done that'. They can get kind of wild though (I guess I do miss that a bit). Being caught between 2 muscle guys on the dance floor is always a good time. Especially if they are there to just let loose and have fun. I always enjoyed being the welcome wagon for the tourists :)

Ft. Lauderdale has the White Hot Leather Ball event this year. Might be of interest if you are into the more into manly men (more than shaved muscle bunnies). Leather bars are always fun and can imagine how wild this party will get.

Check the website for ticket prices for the events and purchase early if you are interested because they tend to sell out. You probably should book a hotel ahead of time as well. Check the Ads to the right on this page, there are some good hotel/guest house deals.

Bigger Lips in Oakland Park

Oakland Park is a city right next to Wilton Manors. This whole area is booming with gay activity even in this slow housing market. There are more bars and restaurants opening every month.
The latest on the horizon is called Lips. From what I can see it might resemble the Lucky Cheng's restaurant in New York City (not sure if the one in South Beach is still open, I'll have to do some digging). A Drag Queen Dinner Show type venue. It will be located at 1421 E. Oakland Park Blvd (between Dixie and US1.). I hear they are getting closer to opening and I'll have more soon.

Britney Spears Blackout...No, it's really her CD's new title.

What kind of gay blog would this be without at least one Brit posting? This posting isn't going to dish on what paparazzi she ran over, chased or whatever. It won't even talk about her ongoing child custody issues...and don't even think it will talk about any recent 'train wreck' live performances.

Britney's new CD titled Blackout (catchy title huh? Maybe it should have been called '7AM and Still Drunk') dropped today. It was rushed ahead of schedule due to 'Internet leaks'. This actually could be true because the whole CD (and even some tracks that didn't make the final cut) could be found on many 'pier-to-pier' services for a few weeks now. (This blog does not support that type of downloading service.)

When you put all of her real life drama aside...this CD is actually really good. It could even be one of her best. There are some familiar sounds (think Gwen mixed with a bit of Madonna) but it's a great way to try to bust into the scene again. There are a few songs that get you hooked right away, even through the electronic blips and bleeps. This CD has a song for everyone, but I bet she had her gay fans in mind when she picked the songs. They get you to picture lots of hot guys shirtless dancing until 5 AM, which is nothing new to Ms. Spears.

Some of the other songs that didn't make it? Well lets just say they made some wise choices. There is one good song that is only available on iTunes called 'Get Back'. The song was stuck in my head for weeks when I first heard it. I even snipped a bit for a ring tone. (oh...like you wouldn't ?!?)

Give her credit when credit is due...lets just hope she doesn't do any live shows soon. Give it a listen and I'm sure you'll find yourself on the dance floor the next time you hear a remix at the club.

So Where's the Gay Movie Theaters...or at Least the Best Ones?

In the mood for a movie? Where are the most fabulous movie theaters around South Florida? Well is all depends on what your preference is. Lets break down a few on the South East Coast of Florida.

Miami-Dade County- The Regal Cinema South Beach. It's right at the end of the famous Lincoln Road Mall. The section of Lincoln road is a pedestrian mall..(closed to car traffic except for cross streets) to allow countless shoppers the opportunity to stroll, shop, eat and people watch. There are even some popular gay hangouts dotted through this strip. Once filled with local 'Mom & Pop' shops, it's now home to many cafes, bars and retail shops. Some fellow gays might tell you it's lost it's charm, but I beg to differ. The movie theater sports stadium seating and has plenty of 'eye candy' for those on a diet (South Beach has some hot hot people). It's a great place to take a date, a new friend or go solo. First-run movies are the flavor here.

Broward (Ft. Lauderdale)- The Gateway (on Sunrise Blvd and US1). Some call this theater the 'Gayway'...for good reason. It's located in the trendy 'Victoria Park' neighborhood and it's more of an 'indi' film house. Most of the gay movies that are released premier here. It's not the most glamorous cinema around, but one with the most character. It's been around since the 1950's and still manages to pack them in. Very impressive for Florida...let alone the fickle gay community. There are some restaurants within walking distance that are local gay favorites as well so this makes for a great date with someone special. You won't even get a second look for holding hands with your partner. Fun Fact: There was even an Abercrombie & Fitch photo shoot done at this place for one of it's catalogs a few years back.

Palm Beach County- Muvico Paradise (Boca Raton). This is the 'Lexus' of the movie theaters in South Florida. This place isn't 'super' gay friendly, but the overall grandness of it, might make you not care. It's not like you'll have issues here, but it is very family friendly (real family...like kids) and it's also near FAU (Florida Atlantic University) so you get a good mix. The venue is split into 2 theaters. the 'Premier Theater' and the general cinema.

The Premier Theater has a full dinner menu and serves alcohol. Of course it costs more, but you can make a whole evening out of it. The seats are huge and it's reserved for adults only. (Nooo..it's not a porn theater..) The general cinema side is one of my favorites. The snack bar actually services hot food (fried foods and some other light fare like burgers) and they let you put your own butter on your popcorn. Stadium seats are really comfortable and it feels more upscale than your typical venue. Again, first run movies only. Side note: The Boca Towne Center is close by for some great shopping.

For those of you looking for more of the 'adult' experience (wink-wink, nudge-nudge)....keep checking the site back for new posts and I'm sure you won't be sorry.

Get to Know 'The Drive', Wilton Drive that is.

For those of you that have not been to Florida in many years, the new SoFla 'gay' mecca has shifted from South Beach to Wilton Manors. You might be asking yourself..."where in the $%^&$ is Wilton Manors"? Well it's about 35 miles north of South Beach right next to Ft. Lauderdale.

Ft. Lauderdale has stripped it's 'Spring Break' craziness and has managed to take the phrase "Where the Boys Are" to a different place. Ft. Lauderdale has many gay neighborhoods and the one with the most dining and entertainment options is Wilton Manors. It's located right outside the city limits and really close to the beach as well.

The main street is called Wilton Drive and has gone through a huge transformation in the past 10 years. Bars, restaurants, new condos, retail...they have it all. Be sure to check back as more is revealed about this great city.

By the way, the Ft. Lauderdale Mayor has been in the news quite often. Ignore him. Don't let the media make you think that is what everyone thinks here. We're all trying to figure out what his real reason is for all the hate...but then again, why bother.
